Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) - SGA President, 03-04
Position:President
Actual Title:President, 03-04
Department or Organization:Student Government Association (SGA)
Compensation Type:
Tuition scholarship/waiver
Annual Compensation Range:$15,000+
Compensation Description:2004
Tuition voucher is provided by the school and is recognized as a leadership voucher. There is no actual exchange of money; the president has to pay 0% of their tuition. In other words, the SGA President gets a 100% tuition voucher.
Should SG leaders get paid?
Yes. While all officers should keep in mind that they are serving the student community, and it is a honor and a privilige to hold these positions, it is of paramount importance that no one be 'disqualified' from serving by financial restrictions such as having to give up a part time job.
What is the ideal form of compensation for SG leaders?
The best form of compensation at Embry-Riddle is a tuition voucher because it helps to alleviate the financial burdens of attending a private school. If combined with scholarships or other financial aid that causes the officer's account to have a credit, the officer is then able to work with the Financial Aid department to get disbursement checks provided that the entire package (voucher, scholarships, loans, etc.) is within the Federally stipulated annual budget for full-time students.
